Month 3 in Pictures

Dear Natalie,

We did a lot in the past month! You celebrated you first Valentine's Day
You like to snuggle in bed, weekend mornings are my favorite!
We started reading books before bed (if you aren't too cranky)
 Grandma and Grandpa visited twice!
Mommy and Daddy went out on two dates! First for the Broadway show Book of Mormon (It was amaaazing!!) and then to a wedding!

Your EYES! No one can get over how gorgeous they are!
You started sitting up on your own in the bumbo chair, and I think it's the cutest/funniest thing ever!
 Neighborhood Watch:
We like to put you in things, like stove pots and laundry baskets:
You still fall asleep in my arms, and I love every minute of it.
You discovered your tongue and like to stick it out often!
We were able to go on a handful of walks on nice days! I love the many different carriers I have for you...especially the Boba Carrier, it's just so easy!
You started grabbing at things...annything you can, toys, clothes, and of course....my hair!

I started working part time from home....you like to supervise! So far, it's been good!
My friend, Cassie, came to visit and gave you a brief art lesson.
You had your first St. Patrick's Day!
You nap like a boss!
You love your lesson time with Oma!

And snuggles from Papa
We got you on a fantastic sleep schedule, and I'm dreading the day we have to wean you from your swaddle.
Dressing you every day is great fun!
You make the silliest faces!
You change every single day. This month was the best one yet (I'm sure I'll be saying that every month now!) We all sort of caught our stride as a new family these last 4 weeks, and mommy and daddy are feeling more confident in what they are doing!
Bring on Month 4!

Natalie Claire: 4 Months

Name: Natalie Claire

Weight: 12 Pounds 7 oz. - 25th percentile

Height: 23 1/4 inches

Health: Excellent Health! I guess that's what happens when you don't really leave the house :) Growing at the appropriate rate.

Sleep: She's become an excellent sleeper, and this past month was when we really established a nighttime routine that totally works for us! Baby girl takes a 2-3 hour nap "almost" every day. She is ready for bed by 8:00 the latest, and only wakes up once a night for a feeding (usually between 2:30 and 3:30). Sometimes, it takes me a while to get her back down to sleep after the feeding, other times, she goes right back to sleep, so it's a crap-shoot every night. Then she sleeps straight through till 7:00/7:30 most mornings. She is always so so so happy and pleasant in the mornings!

Social: Natalie gets very fascinated by new faces. She will stare at someone making faces and talking to her for hours (well until she's hungry at least, which is still every 2 hours!)
Diet: Exclusively Breast Fed - The Doc says we can start her on rice cereal this month, but I'm so torn about starting it! Everything I read says wait until 6 months - what are other mama's doing?!

Likes: Sitting at the piano, singing, being swaddled

Dislikes: Tummy-Time. I make her do it a couple times a day, but she's just not really a fan of it. She gets tired very easily. She was rolling over a few weeks ago, but now she just flails around when I put her on her stomach and gets frustrated. Gotta keep making her do it a few times a day though!

Milestones: Smiling like crazy, cooing like crazy, grasping at toys, putting everything in her mouth, watching me eat with much more fascination, tracking, following movements, sitting up on her own in the bumbo chair, and holding herself up when I hold her. She's become a real, bonafide person!!

Tomorrow I'll update with some picture highlights from the past month! I have so much to share and have missed my little corner of the blogging world! Hope everyone is still around and doing well!

Natalie: 3 Month Update

It is hard to believe, but our little one is 3 months old! I missed the last 2 weekly updates (but I will try to publish and backdate those this week as I get caught up!

Name: Natalie Claire

Weight: 11 Pounds, 2 ounces
Health: Very good, you haven't been sick at all, you are growing like a weed, and have a very healthy and hearty appetite!

Sleep: This month we transitioned you over to your crib in your own room and it was SO MUCH easier than I thought it would be! I was really nervous to take you out of our room for a few reasons: It was so easy to just get up and grab you in the middle of the night when you woke up and I always liked to be able to hear you if you woke up. BUT, I actually have liked you sleeping in your own room much better. I hear you just fine over the monitor, and you are sleeping great on your own. You wake up one or twice a night for feedings and then usually go right back to sleep.

Social: You love to turn on the charm and get very fascinated by new faces. You smile a lot, and you "coo" a TON. You are very pleasant, unless you are hungry. If you are hungry (and you often are, at least every 2 hours) then you are very very cranky. You want your food! I guess you take after mommy for that ;)

Diet: Still exclusively breastfed and going strong! Every two hours during the day is a lot, but I still wholeheartedly feel that these every two hour breaks are so 100% worth it. I enjoy the cuddle time with you in my arms, and know that all too soon, you'll be moving and shaking, and not so tiny and cuddly with me anymore!

Clothes: With reluctance on my part I moved you up to 3-6 month clothes, and have washed and packed away all of your newborn clothing.

Baby Gear Love: Your jungle mat is your new favorite place to explore, practice tummy time, and coo at the little owl hanging over your head!
Likes: Whistling and sitting at the piano while mommy plays! It's amazing how you focus on my hands when I'm playing! I'm obsessed with watching these videos of us at the piano. You are so focused on my hands the whole time, and you are so content sitting with me while I play!

Nicknames: BUG

Postpartum: For me, I'm feeling great. But the weight has not "just fallen off" as I so often hear it does for women who breastfeed. In the past two weeks I've finally started working out regularly again, thanks to a cardio bowflex machine my mother-in-law bought, that I go over and use a couple times a week!

Milestones:
We attended a Gymboree class with you to see what they are like. We really liked the class, but think it will be a bit more beneficial and worthwhile when you are 6 months and older. Most of the things they did with you in the class are very easy to do at home, and we have been doing with you at home anyway.

I think you literally change every single day. I am so excited to see what the next 3 months brings for you and for us!

Here is a little video recap of the joy we've experienced these past 3 months:
