Intralase Surgery

Source

It's Official! I have scheduled my Intralase eye surgery for January 19th, 2013 with Diamond Vision of Manhattan! As of January 20th, I will be able to wake up in the morning and immediately SEE clearly!! I've needed glasses since I was 10 years old and have been wearing contacts since I was 13. The thought of waking up in the morning and not immediately needing to grab for my glasses is mind boggling to me. Mind boggling and exciting :)

I now have 4 friends who recently gotten this surgery and I'm jumping on board to be the next! January 19th can not come soon enough!

Have you or has anyone you know had Lasik or Intralase surgery? Any tips or words of wisdom for an excited, albeit a little nervous, intralase patient?

  1. You are brave girl! I am going to be getting it soon, it's cheaper here than in France. I'll be looking to see how it works out for you!! Good luck!

  2. I don't know anyone who has had this done. The Hubby has been talking about wanting to get it done though. He hates that he can't see anything without his contacts or glasses. Good luck and I hope the time passes quickly for you!

  3. I too have been wearing glasses since the 4th grade, and contacts since I was 13. My eye doctor once told me that I was a good candidate for this surgery, but I admit that so far, I've just been too nervous to go through with it. I'm looking forward to hearing all about your experience. Maybe it will help encourage me to take the next step in getting it done!

    1. I was the same way. It was always something "I would love to get done one day" and finally one day my friend's older sister responded with "Then why don't you just get it done? I got it done 3 years ago and it was the best decision I've ever made" and it just kind of hit me that Lasik would be something "I'd love to do one day" for the rest of my life. It's much more common and very safe right now, so I thought - what the heck, let's get this over with.

  4. My sister in law had Lasik and loves it!! She had worn glasses since she was a kid too. It seems a bit expensive for me, though I have ridiculously dry eyes today (thanks contacts) and on days like today, I would LOVE to not have to wear contacts! I'm interested to hear how your experience goes!

    1. Actually - the only thing that I am NOT looking forward to with the surgery is that apparently you will have much drier eyes than usual. I actually don't have a dry eye problem, and never ever have to use drops, but they say that lasik and intralase patients will have to use drops much more regularly to keep their eyes lubricated. That might be something you're already used to, so it won't matter - but if it makes your already dry eyes worse, that might be annoying too..
