Magazine Covers

In the summer of 1985, my parents took this picture of me at a local Rose Garden. Since my middle name is Ashley, they cut the top off of a Laura Ashley catalog and framed it with the picture. This hung in our basement for as long as I can remember, and I always loved it.

The pictures of Natalie in our new back yard that we took on Mother's Day reminded my family of the photo above. Her name isn't an actual magazine (so, not as cool as me) but I was able to take a Marie Claire header, and edit it so Natalie can have her very own "Magazine Cover" too!
I actually don't think we look too much alike as babies, here. There is a likeness, but I don't look at the picture of me and think "OMG that's Natalie!"

What do you think?

Month 5 in pictures

Dear Natalie,

You're 5th month brought about so many exciting changes for you. As I said yesterday, you LOVE cups:
You are more interested in turning the pages of the book at the piano than playing, but that's ok, we'll get you playing in no time!

You like to pretend you're a big kid and sometimes you get to sleep in our bed (mostly on weekend mornings)
unflattering...but cute.

We started putting you in the high chair and booster seat! You still look so tiny in it!
You were a champ during your photo shoot with Aunt Cassie!

You're a big girl holding your bottle all by yourself!

Your smile gets me every time
We celebrated our first Mother's Day

You learned to sit up on your own
We got you a jumper

Daddy and I decided, you are allowed to date when you're 40:
Mommy and Daddy's eyes are bigger than their stomachs (but not for long...)

We played with our new friend, Sophia!
You like to take naps on the couch

We had lots of visitors, who were excited to come see you, like Uncle Matt:
and Aunt Corinne and Uncle Chris:

We're loving the beautiful Spring days!

Each day gets more and more fun, while presenting its own new set of challenges. I can't wait to feed you more and different foods, and you are going to start crawling any day now, I can tell! How have you been in our lives for half a year already?! In some ways it seems so fast, but in other ways, it feels like a lifetime.
Does this mean it's time to start planning your first birthday party?!

Natalie Claire: 6 Months

Name: Natalie Claire

Weight: 15 pounds, 8 ounces

Height: 26 inches

Health: So far, perfectly healthy. Hasn't had any sickness or health problem.
Sleep: Natalie goes to bed around 8:00 pm every night. She "usually" wakes up once a night from about 3-3:30am (give or take an hour), and then is up again between 6 and 7 am. Usually, she goes right back to sleep in the middle of the night, but there is the occasional night where she has trouble going back to bed. Twice last week, she slept from 8-5am and then 8-6am, which was the longest stretch she ever went! I thought maybe we had graduated to sleeping through the night, but she's been waking up again since then, so it was some sort of a fluke.

Social: Natalie is very social. She is usually fine in anyone's arms, and fine being passed around to lots of people (unless she's hungry or any baby)

Diet: Still exclusively breastfeeding every 2-3 hours during the day. She started eating some homemade food that I made in the beaba babycook or the magic bullet. In addition to oatmeal and rice cereal, so far she has eaten: Banana, apples, pears, avocados, prunes (she had MAJOR blowouts the day after eating), avocados (didn't like), and sweet potatoes. She enjoys eating and it's so cute to watch her open her mouth like a little baby bird when she sees the food!

Likes: Natalie is OBSESSSSSD WITH CUPS. When I say obsessed, I mean OBSESSSSSED. If she sees me drinking out of a cup she goes bananas, and lunges for the cup so she can try and drink out of it too. I've resorted to giving her an empty cup of her own, so I can drink my own cup of water, but that doesn't even really work either. She totally gets how it works too, she puts her mouth right on it, grabs it and tries to drink. I've let her take a few tiny sips of water, but mostly I just let her chew on the cup.

Dislikes: There isn't much she dislikes, she only likes to be in her jumper for a few minutes usually (which is good, because I don't like her to be in there too long anyway).
* Sitting up on her own
* Eating fruits and veggies
*Started squealing really really loudly - both to express happiness and anger/to get what you want. It's funny, but I don't hope that this will become a habit...
*Started laughing!! (haven't been able to get this on video yet)
*Has slept a few nights completely un-swaddled (I go back and forth between this, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't)
*Had her first nightmare - One night, Chris and I were watching tv in bed and out of nowhere she woke up screaming and crying hysterically. It was heartbreaking. I nursed her, and she went right back to sleep.

Re-Post: Pregnancy Announcement (no, I am not pregnant again)

In Honor of it being one year since we announced our pregnancy, I thought I'd repost the video of telling our friends and family that we were pregnant around this time last year. Today also marks Natalie's 6 month birthday! I can't even believe I've had an actual live, human, BABY for half of a year!! I'll have her 6 month update up on the blog on Monday or Tuesday next week.

3 Year Anniversary

3 years ago today, I married the love of my life

2 years ago today, we were just arriving back from our vacation in San Francisco, Napa Valley, and Los Angeles, California

1 year ago today, we announced to everyone that we were expecting a baby:

and this year, we have our perfect little family.

If the last 3 years are any indication for what's to come, then I consider myself just about the luckiest woman in the world. Happy Anniversary to the man who understands my passion for pizza and ice cream, who shares a mutual obsession love of Disney World, television and marathoning shows; who loves going for long car rides, and who I can talk to for hours. To the man who takes care of Natalie, Zoey and me more than I ever could have dreamed; who likes to yell at me to "get off the computer" so we can cuddle, who has made me happier than I ever thought humanly possible.

Tonight I am looking forward to a date-night dinner, just the two of us (whaa?) followed by our annual anniversary cake from the bakery that made our wedding cake:

How did/will you celebrate your 3 year anniversary?

My Talented Photographer Friend

Two weeks ago my friend, Cassie, spent the weekend with us and took time to take some great photos of Natalie. It helps to have talented photographer friends!

I LOVE these photos, thank you Cassie!! They will forever be treasured by our family.
