Diaper Bags: A Plea for Help

As an avid reader of BabyKerf, Kath did a giveaway at the beginning of the year for Lassig Diaper Bags and since then, I've had my eye on these beauties for my future diaper bag purchase. I like how they're not so "mom" looking while still being reasonably priced, and from the website pictures, it looks like they hold a LOT.

But now I can't decide between three different bags! This is how I do things: I look at allllll the 52,000 options out there, narrow it down to a select few and then wax and wane forever on making an actual decision, if a decision is ever even made at all. It's a process, but it works.

So here are the three that I like the most from the site. Check out the links to each of these bags, inside they are carefully compartmentalized and hold a lot. Which one do you like the best?

I realize that this last one is probably the least practical of the three, because the straps aren't very long and I probably wouldn't be able to comfortably swing this over my shoulder...but I really like  the style of it! I worry that the light color the first one might easily get dirty. Also, all of these come with long straps so you can hang it from the back of your stroller if it's sturdy enough.

So help a girl out!! Which one do you like the best? Would/Did you purchase a diaper bag from Lassig or somewhere else?

  1. I'm loving the Urban bag!!! They are all adorable. I'm looking at a JP Lizzy bag. I'm in love with them all.

    1. the urban seems to be the frontrunner here...thanks for your vote. BUT Oh MAN! Now you had to go and confuse me...I'm loving these satchels at JP Lizzy! I like the Slate Citron, Graphite Blush and Tawny Raven Satchels!! Which one are you looking at?

  2. They are all nice. I like how smart the urban bag looks but I think in terms of what it can hold it's the least practical. The bowling bag is my least favorite in terms of looks because-well daddy and I used to carry one around-as a bowling bag-back in the day. But in terms of functionality I like the bowling bag the best. It has a place for your credit cards, cell phone, pens, everything you're going to need and it eliminates the need for a diaper bag and a purse.Your arms are going to be full enough with Little Italy and other things to carry.

    1. You make a good point...but I seriously think the "not being able to throw over my shoulder" thing may have to be a dealbreaker...

    1. #1 seems to be the frontrunner today, and I just read online some complaints that #2 is already so heavy even without anything in it..soo we'll see. But now a reader recommend JP Lizzy bags to me and I love those too and I'm even more confused!

Thanks for weighing in though, these votes are helping!

  4. Ha, so while I know nothing about babies...handbags are totally up my alley!! I like the first bag the best - I like the gray and black on the website more than the brown and beige. I agree with your concerns on the strap length with the third option - it's cute, but who wants to haul a full baby bag over their arm?? Go for something you can put on your shoulder! (And do report back on which one you go with!)

    1. I agree with everything that Karen said, including but not limited to not knowing anything about babies but everything about handbags.

    1. That's very true, I can use this bag again and again either with a boy or a girl. Now Kristin has me checking out the bags at JP Lizzy and now I'm even more confused!!

  6. do these bags have straps for crossbody? Okay so I have a HUGE diaper bag...and I only use it when I am out for the whole day. But when I go to the store/mall or shorter trips I use some random bag that I got for free at Bath and Body Works..why? Well you realize that on short trips you don't have to pack like everything....and it is small because it is hard carrying your purse/baby/car seat/stroller/huge diaper bag. I recommend getting the Diaper Genie changing table to go. I put the diapers in there with the wipes and some sanitizer wipes plus I connect the Muchkin diaper bags on the side of it...okay this doesn't make much sense..but you just inspired me to write a post about this! hahaha

    1. So glad I inspired a post, I can't wait to read it!! It will certainly come in handy to know what every new mom should carry around in her diaper bag!!

You bring up a good point about whether or not is has straps for crossbody - do you think that's a must? I also worry about the lack of outside pockets....sigh, I still don't know what I want to do.

Thanks for the great recommendations this week!

  7. I can't speak from experience, but I really like the Urban one. It seems very versatile so you could always use it as a carry on bag/gym bag down the road too once you don't need it as a diaper bag! It also seems to have a ton of storage inside.

    All seem great! Decisions decisions!!!

  8. Never heard of this brand! Love these bags though! I was set on Petunia Pickle Bottom, but have yet to purchase ANY diaper bag and it's 5 weeks until I'm due! I'm a picky slacker ;)
