Book Review: Drinking & Tweeting
Brandi Glanville
From Goodreads:
She’s the brutally honest breath of fresh air on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, known for her dramatic divorce, her barely-there clothing, and her inability to keep her mouth shut. So why should she change now? Brandi Glanville tells all in this hilarious, no-holds-barred memoir. Fans have been waiting for Brandi’s scoop on one of the biggest divorces of the decade, since her husband of eight years abandoned her and their two sons to marry country singer LeAnn Rimes. Not only does Brandi spill the beans about her side of the split, the lovable housewife shares the incredible wild ride that took her from a life in the ghetto to Hollywood’s most elite circles. For the first time, Brandi talks about how she escaped a rough neighborhood on the outskirts of Sacramento and stumbled into a successful modeling career that swept her into a world of Paris Fashion Weeks, private jets, and uncircumcised penises. Before she knew it, Brandi was the perfect Hollywood trophy wife—at least until her marriage exploded. My Thoughts:
Today, the refreshingly filter-free housewife and unapologetic mom is the newest full-time cast member of Bravo’s juggernaut franchise, where she often elicits raised eyebrows and gossip from her costars for her refusal to be the scorned ex-wife, to be bullied, to change her sarcastic sense of humor, or—on most occasions—to wear a bra. Sassy, raunchy, and compulsively readable, Drinking and Tweeting perfectly captures Brandi’s open-book attitude, as she dishes about everything from her DUI, her cheating ex, her one-night stands, and the secret plastic surgery that made her “seventeen” again. You’re sure to enjoy every page of this funny, upbeat, honest tale. Clear your schedule for an afternoon and grab your favorite cocktail, a comfy seat . . . and maybe a Xanax. But that’s for later.
LOVED! So this is another book from the Housewives Franchise. Firstly, this book was SO MUCH better than Kyle Richard's book. Completely different books, I realize, but still I enjoyed this much more. Brandi talks mostly about her highly-profiled divorce in which her husband left her in 2009 for LeAnn Rimes. Brandi shows all sides of what she went through: the good, bad, ugly and makes no excuses for it. She admits when she was wrong, and praises herself for when she was right, and to her credit, she does the same for her ex-husband. She talks about dealing with the kids, how she's moved on, and how she's a much better person on the other side of things. I know there are two sides to every story, and we're only getting one side here...but I keep up on my celebrity gossip enough to know that LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian are pretty much bat-shit crazy, attention whores, and I'm totally "Team Brandi". So, I feel for Brandi and her situation and found this book pretty empowering, even if she teeters on the "crazy-train" line, and she does...often. If you are into any type of celebrity-gossip or reality tv: I recommend this book!
"Bat-shit crazy" Lol. Never heard that expression before but I know a few people who would fit the definition! Sounds like a fun book to read on a beach somewhere or curled up next to the fireplace when you're snowed in. Thanks for the review.
ReplyDeletenever heard bat-shit crazy?! That's one of my favorite go-to descriptors! Def. an interesting read if you like this sort of thing.
DeleteSo someone HAS cursed on this blog before....I stand corrected.
ReplyDeleteEvery once in a while I miss something culturally that I truly can't understand how I missed it (ex: Breaking Bad, The Wire) and I am adding this book to that list. Because HOLY MOLY this sounds hilarious. I follow the aforementioned fame whores and had no idea his ex was a real housewife! I'm definitely reading this puppy! Thanks for the review!
Make sure you let me know if you read this! would love to discuss and gossip about how crazy LeAnn Rhimes is!
