Baby Shower Recap: Part 2
If you missed Part 1 of my Baby Shower Recap yesterday, be sure to check it out. In addition to everything I highlighted, there were many different "stations" to go to throughout the shower. As I stated before, there was a quilt guest book, and a gift display table. Another station was to "Decorate a Diaper." This will be our "2 am" diaper pile to grab from when we need a
good laugh. Some of the messages written on these diapers were hilarious and so creative!
There was also a board where guest's baby photos were displayed, and we had to guess who belonged to which picture. For some, it was so easy and for others, it was so hard!!!
At each place setting there was a blank, white bib for each guest to decorate. This was also a place where people got very creative! We now have about 40 hand-decorated baby bibs!
Oh, didn't I tell you? I used to be a bib model:
After lunch, three groups competed against each other in the "Toilet Paper Diaper Game." Corinne, (wearing the bib) won the audience vote!
And after that, guests were asked to cut a piece of yarn the size of my belly. They came up individually and wrapped them around my stomach. Believe it or not, we had someone who pretty much cut the exact circumference of my belly! Most people WAY over-shot how big I was...thanks...
We also played a Song Guessing Game. A song was played that had the word baby in it, and we had to guess the title and artist who sang it. (i.e. Hit me Baby One More Time, Baby Baluga, Justin Bieber's "Baby, Baby", etc)
Near the end of the party we had cake! But this wasn't just any cake. Since I'm not a huge cake person, this was a Napolean: Puff pastry layered with vanilla custard and topped with icing, YUM! Here we are with our moms!
As a thank you to our mom's I got them the book Funny, You Don't Look Like a Grandmother which shares anecdotes about being a young, contemporary grandmother in the 21st century. I also made some homemade Honey Butter Ambrosia: a recipe I found on the blog One Good Thing, and jarred it up for them.
Before I knew it, it was 4:00pm and the men had started packing up the cars with all the gifts. By the time I got home, everything was already brought into the house and put away down in the basement...how's that for service?! On their way out, guests were asked to take a homemade bar of soap from Dragonfly Soaps to "Baby their Skin", and there was also white-chocolate lollipops in different baby related shapes. We used Dragonfly Soaps for favors at my Bridal Shower, and they were such a hit! Every last bar went again this time!
Thank you thank you to everyone who showed their love and support to Chris and me this weekend, especially our moms. We are blessed to have such kind and generous people in our lives, and to have had such a wonderful Baby Shower!
