Natalie Claire: 5 Months

First off, congratulations to Nicole who won the free year subscription to Press Reader! I contacted her individually when she was randomly picked, and she should be all set up!

Secondly: I have 4 posts ready for this week!! FOUR!! I can't guarantee that I'll keep this up...but for now, I have a full week of posts for you all!

Name: Natalie Claire

Weight: 13 pounds 10 ounces - still 25th percentile

Height: 25 inches

Health: Super Healthy, no health problems yet. No sickness yet (knocking on wood!)
Sleep:  I ended up writing a novel about sleep which turned into its own separate post. LOTS to say on this subject, which I will post about tomorrow. Long story short: Started only swaddling one arm; I thought we avoided the 4 month sleep regression, but it turns out we did not. And I have become much more sane by accepting and embracing the fact that nighttime feedings are just a given for me right now.

Social: Smiles like crazy. Natalie is SO CLOSE to a laugh, I can feel it! So interested in faces and staring at new people. Pretty content with new people. Started reaching out to pet Zoey!

Diet: Still exclusively breastfeeding, but started introducing a little bit of rice cereal and oatmeal. Something happened right around 4 months where she was eating 1/3 to 1/2 the amount of time she used to. Feeding sessions used to take us 30-40 minutes, now they were taking 10-15 total! I was really panicked that she wasn't eating enough, or that my supply has dropped tremendously but she always seemed content afterward, and she still had the same diaper output (actually more - as in, a massive blow out every other day for 2 weeks straight!) Anyway, I have a whole separate post about this for later in the week as well!

Likes: Singing, car rides, playing with toys - particularly the famous kid's toy Sophie the Giraffe

Dislikes: shots at the doctor (uh duh), being left alone,

Milestones:
  • Smiling like crazy
  • She seems to have "found her voice" Natalie has started this little scream thing - either she likes the sound of her own voice, or we have a little diva on our hands. It could be both, and either way, we're in trouble.

  • Learning to eat off a spoon

  1. I have noticed how she responds to music-especially the tunes I make up and sing to her. I said it was a response-not necessarily a good response. LOL. I have also noticed her eye hand coordination has improved like crazy in the last week. And...she gets more beautiful by the hour! Love that little Puddin' Head! <3

  2. She's getting so big! Sleep is a big thing and I've learned to not worry about it too much. Their sleep changes so much and just when you think you've got it down, it changes again! James has improved SO much over the last 2 weeks. James eats in about the same time span and I too was worried, but he's just becoming a more efficient nurser!

    1. Yes- it definitely is that they are stronger and more efficient. I almost miss the longer nursing sessions! Just when i settle down into a book or something on my phone- she's already done eating! And sleep? Yea- im used to it and have accepted the lack of sleep!

  5. Don't worry about your milk supply! It's totally normal for them to eat much quicker as their muscles get stronger and they get more efficient at the breast!

  8. Oh my goodness I didn't even know there was a thing called four month sleep regression. We definitely went through that!!! Hang in there! It got better for us a little at 6 months. Kennedy didn't really like to sleep until she was about 10 months though lol. She is so cute!!!!

  9. Yes, I'm all set! :-)

She is such a gorgeous baby. It's fun to see her grow. It's also a blessing to read she hasn't been sick at all yet.
