Natalie Claire: 6 Months

Name: Natalie Claire

Weight: 15 pounds, 8 ounces

Height: 26 inches

Health: So far, perfectly healthy. Hasn't had any sickness or health problem.
Sleep: Natalie goes to bed around 8:00 pm every night. She "usually" wakes up once a night from about 3-3:30am (give or take an hour), and then is up again between 6 and 7 am. Usually, she goes right back to sleep in the middle of the night, but there is the occasional night where she has trouble going back to bed. Twice last week, she slept from 8-5am and then 8-6am, which was the longest stretch she ever went! I thought maybe we had graduated to sleeping through the night, but she's been waking up again since then, so it was some sort of a fluke.

Social: Natalie is very social. She is usually fine in anyone's arms, and fine being passed around to lots of people (unless she's hungry or tired...like any baby)

Diet: Still exclusively breastfeeding every 2-3 hours during the day. She started eating some homemade food that I made in the beaba babycook or the magic bullet. In addition to oatmeal and rice cereal, so far she has eaten: Banana, apples, pears, avocados, prunes (she had MAJOR blowouts the day after eating), avocados (didn't like), and sweet potatoes. She enjoys eating and it's so cute to watch her open her mouth like a little baby bird when she sees the food!

Likes: Natalie is OBSESSSSSD WITH CUPS. When I say obsessed, I mean OBSESSSSSED. If she sees me drinking out of a cup she goes bananas, and lunges for the cup so she can try and drink out of it too. I've resorted to giving her an empty cup of her own, so I can drink my own cup of water, but that doesn't even really work either. She totally gets how it works too, she puts her mouth right on it, grabs it and tries to drink. I've let her take a few tiny sips of water, but mostly I just let her chew on the cup.

Dislikes: There isn't much she dislikes, she only likes to be in her jumper for a few minutes usually (which is good, because I don't like her to be in there too long anyway).
Milestones:
* Sitting up on her own
* Eating fruits and veggies
*Started squealing really really loudly - both to express happiness and anger/to get what you want. It's funny, but I don't hope that this will become a habit...
*Started laughing!! (haven't been able to get this on video yet)
*Has slept a few nights completely un-swaddled (I go back and forth between this, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't)
*Had her first nightmare - One night, Chris and I were watching tv in bed and out of nowhere she woke up screaming and crying hysterically. It was heartbreaking. I nursed her, and she went right back to sleep.

  1. Ohhh....I remember when you and Melissa had night terrors. It does break your heart and you wonder what their little minds are thinking about when that happens. I can't wait to hear her laugh and squeal. I've been away from my Lil' Pumpkin for too long! I don't even know how it's possible that she's six months old already!

  2. She is so precious! Jeanette is learning to scream right now as well and really likes to do it when she's eating her cereal which means it comes flying at my face. I've learned to keep a wet paper towel handy! Good for you for being able to nurse for so long. I only made it three months and when I went back to work my supply dropped way too much, but at least I was able to give her something :)

    1. Haha yes wet paper towel is a must for feedings!! It's great you were able to nurse her for 3 months. Anything is so good for them, it must be very difficult to keep up with that plus working, you did what you could!

    1. We were wondering the same thing - what would she have to be scared of? Maybe falling? The laughing is great, I just wish she would do it more! Thanks for commenting!

  6. She is so cute! James just started sleeping through the night a couple weeks ago but he isn't very consistent. Teething is making life a little hard but I'm able to shush him back to sleep pretty quickly! Natalie is just so cute and doing so well!
