Bumpdate: 21 Weeks

Does this shirt make me look pregnant? That's my new favorite phrase
How Far Along: 21 Weeks! My shirt is so busy I thinks it's a little hard to see the full shape, but oh well!

Baby is the size of: a Carrot or large banana

Total weight gain:
12 pounds

Sleep:
Falling asleep fine, still getting pretty tired mid-afternoon, up to pee once or twice every single night. I feel like my bladder got way smaller this week, but it was also so hot so I was drinking more water than usual.

Best Moment of the week:
Lots of movement every day.
Picking a Baby Shower location and date! We looked at three restaurants this weekend, but Tavern 18 was a clear winner for us in terms of atmosphere, location and food. Our only concern with the place is their limited parking, but it will really be fine and we'll tell people to arrive early.

My mom found this panel of fabric at a little store in the Hamptons on Friday. She bought it to make a baby quilt and I think it's the cutest thing ever! I think I may use this as a starting point for colors, inspiration, and possible theme for the nursery!

Worst Moment of the week:
That time at dinner on Sunday when I looked at a picture of myself and said "ugh, I look HUGE!" and my mom responded with "Yea...and you're only half way!" LOLOLOL it actually was hilarious and we both burst out laughing, but I told her at the time that I would remember that comment and that I would most certainly be blogging about it!

Just the general heat last week in New York was really unbearable. I'm so glad that I wasn't 8 or 9 months pregnant during the heat wave. I can't imagine what it would have been like if I was. I'm glad the heat has broken and I hope August isn't any worse than what we went through last week!

Miss Anything:
I had a bit of a harrowing day on Saturday for reasons unrelated to pregnancy, so I kind of did want to kick back with a glass of wine. I had ice cream instead.

Food Cravings:
The usual pizza and cheese.

Anything make you queasy or sick:
No

Have you started to show?
Yes

Gender:
Don't forget to cast your vote in my Gender Prediction Poll!

Kate Middleton had a baby boy! Since Kate and I pretty much live parallel lives (both our parents married the same year as Princess Diana and Prince Charles, then Chris and I married a month after Will and Kate) I've decided that this means I am most likely having a boy as well. If I have a girl - she shall marry the new prince and I'll move to England to be part of the royal family. It's all planned.

Symptoms:
Leg cramps almost every morning when I wake up, swelling in my fingers (again...probably due to the heat). I've been getting heartburn pretty much every day during my commutes home lately. I thought maybe I was hungry, but even if I eat a little something before leaving work, I still get it. It's not really bad heartburn, but it is uncomfortable and I feel like it's getting worse and more frequent.

Also, unfortunately: Acne, acne, acne. My chest, back, and forehead I can't even talk about right now.

Workouts:
Yes! I missed yoga last Tuesday which really upset me. So, after sulking for an hour or two, I went down to the basement and did an hour of yoga on my own by finding some videos to do on youtube. It was great and I found some great videos to use whenever I want. This is one of my favorites so far. I did it twice last week and I did my Tracy Anderson Pregnancy Project DVD twice last week as well. No good with the walking at all. It was too HOT!

Mood:
Very good! I'm feeling really accomplished after this weekend!

Looking Forward to:
Chris and I actually feel feeling a kick on the outside. Right now, I feel them often in my stomach, and I can sometimes see little kicks, but they aren't strong enough to feel by placing a hand on the stomach.

Maternity Clothes:
Yep, my mother-in-law got me a couple new shirts and gave me some of hers to borrow for the time being as well (one of which is the shirt I'm wearing in this weeks pic!)

Stretchmarks?:
Yes, and I'm starting to notice some more along my stomach. I still haven't gone to CVS to look for Bio Oil, as some of you suggested. I will try and get there tomorrow to finally pick some up!

Rings on or off?
Right now, I'm just wearing my band with no engagement ring.

This week I:
Picked a stroller and a car seat (more on that later), moved things out of what will be the nursery!! Major progress on compiling registries, and baby shower plans are moving along!

Reading:
Still reading The Happiest Baby on the Block by, Harvy Karp, M.D.

Milestones:
Baby's eyebrows and lids are present, and it has developed its taste buds. The baby can taste what I am eating now, and they say that if I eat a good variety of foods, it should prepare the baby to be open to trying more foods during it's lifetime.

  6. Ok first of all, you do not look huge at all - you look pregnant in that only-in-the-belly-you-can't-tell-anywhere-else way. I am jealous of people like you :)

Second, that fabric is adorable and would make such a cute nursery!
