Bumpdate: 27 Weeks

How Far Along: 27 Weeks!

Baby is the size of: A cauliflower

Total Weight Gain: 21 pounds!

Sleep: Sleeping pretty well with the snoogle. In Miami I slept like a log the first 2 nights, but the last two nights of the trip I was tossing and turning from 4 or 5am on, and woke up with major back pains. I was soooo excited to return home to my snoogle last night!!

Best Moment of the week:
*Miami!!! I'll catch you all up on our amazing trip later this week! We got some good sunburn (turning into a tan now), relaxed on the beach, ate a ton of cuban food, and watched movies...it was pretty much exactly what I wanted for a babymoon!

Worst Moment of the Week:
*3 hour glucose test!!!!! So, as you know from last week, I didn't pass my first glucose test and had to take the 3 hour one before we left on our trip. The test went like this:
-I had to be at the blood center at 7:30am last Wednesday after fasting for 10 hours (which was fine since it was first thing in the morning). I could drink water before the test, but once it started, I couldn't eat or drink for the full 3 hours.
-They took my blood, then made me drink 10 ounces of the sugary drink (orange again). They told me to drink it over the course of 5 minutes (but not all at once...they said to pace myself) so I set the stopwatch on my phone and drank every 20-30 seconds until it was done about 5 minutes later.
-They then drew my blood one, two, and three hours after the time I finished the drink. The only time I got woozy was when they were drawing blood after 2 hours. The woman who did it didn't get the needle into my vein and spent a little bit of time trying to draw blood from it before pulling the needle out and announcing that she would have to have someone else do it for her. I realized that the whole time I wasn't breathing I was so nervous and I was so upset that they would have to stick me AGAIN when my arms were already started to look so bad.  I wasn't breathing, my stress level went up and I started to see stars. The guy who came in to retry was amazing and saw how shaken and woozy I was. He talked me through the whole thing, reminded me to breath and was done in two seconds. I wanted to hug him when it was over (but of course, that would be inappropriate).
-They drew my last blood after three hours (at this point, having been pricked with a needle 5 times) and I left feeling really weak - mostly from dehydration and starvation. Chris picked me up to take me back home (The place was literally across the street from his office which was very convenient!) and I went right home to drink a huge glass of water and eat the most amaaaazing salad in the history of salads (aka: I was so hungry it was unbelievable)
-I ended up staying home the rest of the day. I was exhausted and the thought of commuting into the city just seemed too daunting at that point.

Miss Anything: Sleeping through the night - though those 2 sweet blissful nights of great sleep in Miami were glorious.

Food Cravings: Honey Nut Cheerios - low fat/sugar treat that I've been snacking on after dinner!

Anything make you queasy or sick: Nope!

Have you started to show?

Gender: Team Green

Symptoms: Back pain, crying easily at commercials...the usual ;)

Workouts: Some walks in Miami, I didn't make it to yoga this week because I had so much to take care of before we left.

Mood: Very good! Miami was incredibly relaxing.

Looking forward to: Feeling baby hiccups which can start occurring any day now!

Maternity Clothes: Yes

Stretchmarks: Yes, but as I said before, I think BioOil is working pretty well.

Rings on or off? Engagement Ring off, wedding band on

Bellybutton in or out? Still in!

This week I:
*Scheduled an appointment with the Deacon at our local church to discuss what needs to be done for Baptism once our little one arrives.

*Decided on a breast-pump (FULLY covered through my insurance...check that out ladies!! Breast Pumps should be covered by your insurance!)

*While we still have not decided on baby names for both a boy or girl, we have at least gotten the ball rolling and had some good brainstorming sessions! So baby naming 2013 is underway and we definitely have some frontrunners for both boy and girl names!!

  1. So sorry the nurse messed up on the blood test. That really is stressful and I bet you had flashbacks to the time the nurse had that problem with me. How awful for you! A breast pump fully covered by insurance? How wonderfully progressive!

  2. I don't blame you for going home after your 3 hour test. It doesn't sound fun to experience! Yay for the 3rd trimester! That's awesome that you got your pump for free-we have Tricare and I think the only way to get a pump that's covered is if we have a preemie. So, not ideal but we bought my pump when we registered and thankfully it was on sale so we got a great deal!

  5. Sorry about your glucose test. I hate when they can't find the vein. It makes it that much worse! And it sounds like you guys had a great time in Miami! Glad to hear that. And I would have never thought that a breast pump would be covered by your insurance. That's awesome though!

  8. Sounds like a terrible experience with all the blood draws. I'm sorry to hear that. I don't normally feel too gross from them, but then again, I've never been stabbed 5 times all the while not being able to eat or drink. I'd probably faint!!

    At least it's DONE! :)
