Bumpdate: 31 Weeks

How Far Along: 31 Weeks!

Baby is the size of: A coconut

Total Weight Gain: 26.2 pounds...Look at my bellllly:

Sleep: I have to pee sooooo badly when I wake up in the middle of the night. The past few nights I've had been on a "two pee-breaks a night" kind of schedule. Sometimes, I wake up and my bladder is sooo full, that it literally hurts sooooo badly to even get up and walk to the bathroom. I may need to invest in a chamber pot...jk...or am I?

Best Moment of the week:
* Meeting with the Deacon at the church where we will get our baby baptized.
Chris and I were married in the Catholic church, and plan to baptize our child there as well. I always get a little bit nervous going to these meetings because I'm not Catholic and I worry that there will be some sort of issue, or that someone will pressure me into converting, etc. etc....but I have to say, I always leave meetings at our church feeling really happy and relieved. I really like the people we've dealt with at St. Gregory's and no one has never once made me feel bad or guilty for not being Catholic. We even learned that as long as one Godparent is a baptized Catholic, the other one can be a Christian witness Godparent - which opens up our possibilities for Godparent options immensely. I was very happy to hear that.

* Clothing Shopping!! I really didn't put many (or practically any) clothes on my registry at the time I set it up. There was a limited selection at Buy Buy Baby and it was difficult for me to pick out things online - plus each BBB carries a different array of clothes and they change out seasonally, so what I added to it in August, may not even be available come September. Chris's grandmother wanted to make sure we had a good selection of starter clothes for the baby's arrival. Unfortunately, she was sick on Sunday, but she sent my mother-in-law and me out to Carter's to get some good starter clothes for the baby. It was a lot of fun and we got some really cute stuff. I can't thank her enough for her generosity in helping us get started on our baby clothing selection!

*My little sister got engaged!! I may or may not already be thinking about our child as a little flower girl or ring-bear (I know, bearer, that was just a little How I Met Your Mother joke) in her wedding. Here's hoping "Little Italy" can walk by the wedding date!

*Chris felt crazy movements on Sunday night. I said this last week, and it only holds more true now: it's no longer even really kicks that I feel...it's full scale movements. Like somersaults, turns, or something. I feel limbs moving along my stomach from one side to the other, and hiccups almost daily. Though a lot of times they literally stop me in my tracks, I've also just grown so accustomed to the constant movement, that I hardly remember a time when I didn't feel anything. It's just part of my day now. It was great for Chris to really feel and see some serious movements on Sunday night. He said "That feels so weird!" I said "How do you think it feels for ME?!"

Worst Moment of the Week:
*Sunday night I had the wooorrrst night's sleep. I don't even know how often I woke up, or really what happened...it's all a haze and maybe I more so dreamed that I wasn't sleeping and actually was? Or maybe I really was up every hour? I don't even really know...I just know it was a restless, nightmare-filled, tossing and turning kind of night.

Miss Anything: The usual...being able to get out of bed, a couch or a car easily.

Food Cravings: Yesterday I was so. hungry. Like ravenous, all day long. I couldn't stop being hungry. I think it's because I really only ate carbs on Sunday (Bad Laura!) and I was paying for it on Monday.

Anything make you queasy or sick: No

Have you started to show?

Gender: Team Green

Symptoms: Weight gain, hunger, my heartburn is definitely coming back full-scale - I get it every day around 5:00 and I imagine it will only just intensify in the next few weeks.

Workouts: I'm going to say something kind of crazy, so I want you to know that I admit this right off the bat. Snookie gives me hope that I can have a better body post-pregnancy than pre-pregnancy. I mean...hopefully she's actually lost the weight healthily and isn't anorexic or using some crazy new drug or anything..but I happened to put on Dancing with the Stars last week just as Snookie was going on to perform. There's no denying it...the girl looks amaaaazing.

Mood: I told Chris on Sunday evening that I was feeling really calm, happy, and content and he literally started laughing. "Really?" he said...he was referring to my anxiousness on Saturday and Sunday to literally. clean. up. everything in the house. On Saturday I said "Please don't make me the nagging wife who constantly bugs you to clean out your things from the nursery, please don't make me be that person." And I'll say, while there are still some things of Chris's that need to be cleaned out of the nursery, we both did accomplish a LOT this weekend around the house, and I'm feeling good about it. I would describe my state as an "calm-anxiety" That's a thing, right?

Looking forward to: My Baby Shower is this weekend!!!!! I am soooo excited for it!!!

Maternity Clothes: Bought my shower dress at Destination Maternity!

Stretchmarks: Eh..yea a few.

Rings on or off? Engagement ring off, wedding band on

Bellybutton in or out? Ehhh about half in, half out. Still not poking through any shirts though!

This week I:
*Met with the Deacon at our church (see above)
Ummmm, I think that's the only thing we really did....

Reading: Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter

Milestones: The baby can turn his head side to side and it growing fat. He's now processing information, tracking light, and perceiving signals from all five senses. He's also putting in longer stretches of sleep and wakefulness.

  1. Looking good! I can't imagine what it will feel like to have movements like that in just a month or so!

Good for you for getting the baptism in order as well. I am Catholic and my hubby is Methodist but we were married in the Catholic Church and plan to baptize the baby at the same church were we got married. Choosing god-parents is such a difficult task, but I think we have some good people in mind!

    1. Oh my goodness, movements will just all of a sudden intensify. One day you'll be stopped in your tracks by an arm or some limb moving all around in your belly. It's so weird, amazing, awesome, crazy and everything all at once!

Yea, I really wanted to meet with the Deacon before the baby was born to get our paperwork ready to go so I just have to call in with the baby's information and set a date after they are born. Def. set up your appointment too when you get the chance! We also have to go to a 45 minute class on baptism one of these months.

  2. You look great and you will bounce back into shape especially if you breastfeed. It will require work but you'll do it. I was curious about the baby receiving signals from all five senses. I thought smell didn't develop until after birth. Old information? The baby can see light and shadows. I remember standing at a sunny window and putting my hand over my belly when I was pregnant with you and Melissa so you could se it. Little Italy can also hear so you and Chris should be talking to him, too. Getting sooo exciting now!

    1. Not sure about the five senses thing...that was according to my babycenter app so I'll have to research that!

  3. You look so good!! Aren't some of the movements just crazy? This boy is strong! That's so exciting about your baby shower coming up! We registered for a few clothing items but I ended up taking them off because I knew they might not be available and that people would get us clothes anyway. That's great that you have some starter clothes now since you don't know what you're having! I've started to get more nervous and anxious even though we really don't have much left to do.

    1. I feel the same way...I feel like I have so much to do and like..nothing to do at the same time. That's why I describe my mood as "calm-anxiety" Because really...we've gotten a lot done and there's only so much you can really do to prepare for the baby's arrival. I also know that once we have the baby - especially because we didn't find out the gender, people are going to be bringing cute gender specific clothes left and right!

    1. Thanks Heather! Yea, it's def. all in good fun, and it's always funny to hear everyone's specific theories and reasons for a boy vs. a girl.

  7. Snooki is surprising me with her dance skills every week. And hey, she has changed dramatically post baby so no shame in using her as inspiration!

    1. You're so teeny tiny though, you look great, I really thought you were completely back to your pre-preg. weight. You'll get there, and if not, you still look great too!
