Bumpdate: 34 Weeks

How Far Along: 34 Weeks!

Baby is the size of: A cantaloupe!

Total Weight Gain: 30 pounds!!

Sleep: Meh- two nights not so good. I finally slept better on the third night by propping myself up and sleeping kind of half way sitting. I was waking up with major hip pain and sleeping almost sitting up was taking the pressure off of either side of my hips. Getting out of bed in the middle of the night to pee is literally, without a doubt, one of the physically hardest things I've ever had to do in my life. It literally takes all my strength.

Best Moment of the week:
*Getting the CRIB!!!!!! Every time I walk by the room I sort of stop short - it's so weird to see a crib in there! Isn't it so pretttty???

*Had our 34th week appointment. It literally goes like this now: Pee in a cup (literally...this is the hardest thing to do in the world...am I right?), take your weight, take your blood pressure, listen for heartbeat. Thank you, see you in two weeks. My next appointment is when they start to get into the nitty gritty though - I could potentially only have 2 or 3 more appointments before the baby's due!

*Zoey trying out the new Radio Flyer Wagon we got as a gift! She didn't really know what to make of it, but I envision many rides in here with her little brother or sister.

*Had dinner on Friday with my grandmother's best friend of somewhere between 40 and 50 years! My grandmother passed away in April 2012, and I so wish that she was alive now to meet what would be her first great-grandchild. Sharing some time with her friend, Jane, was very special and unique, and I know my Grandma would be so happy if she were here.

Worst Moment of the Week:
*I got two dizzy spells on a walk on Sunday. They were fleeting, and I was able to get home fine.
*Cramps on Saturday evening on our way to a friend's house. I had visions of arriving to her house and going into labor. Once I had water, they stopped so I guess I was dehydrated from the day.

Miss Anything: The usual stuff, but nothing out of the oridnary.

Food Cravings: Pumpkin Chocolate chip cookies - I can't stop eating them - but that's normal for this time of year so I don't think that's necessarily a pregnancy craving, just a craving that I'm giving into. I DEF. have gotten my cooking and baking bug bag. In the past week I've made Italian Wedding Soup, Sweet Potato soup, Apple Crisp, and about 8 batches of Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies (I'm freezing them or giving some away)

Anything make you queasy or sick: Nope!

Have you started to show? My boss is convinced that I am going to go into labor any day now because I'm so big. He thinks my doctors have my due date wrong. And I don't think he's joking. I've gotten a few surprised looks when I tell people I still have 6 weeks to go. I know it took me a while to really really show and look pregnant, but now, I'm making up for it on the back-end (pun intended). However, on my walk yesterday morning I told my neighbor I had 5 weeks left and she said "But you're so tiny!" So...I'm all sorts of confused...

Gender:  I had a very vivid dream that I had a girl on Thursday night - which they say means you're having a boy. But now I've had two dreams in which I have a girl and one dream in which I have a boy - so somebody explain that one to me. Also again, like the last time, in my dream - my labor was a piece of cake: Over in 2 seconds and I kept saying "Oh my God it was so easy!" I'm sure that's exactly how it will be, too....

Anyway, still team Green!

Symptoms:
Sleeping is getting harder and harder
I'm going to the bathroom more and more
Woke up with charlie horses in BOTH my legs on Friday morning. It hurt SO BAD, I was crying out in pain. My calf muscles were sore for the entire weekend after that. Massages from the hubby are helping.
Itchy itchy scratchy scratchy, still allll over my legs! Lotion helps.
My heartburn was not as bad this week as it was last week. I only got it slightly. I'm sure certain foods are triggering it, but I haven't been paying close enough attention to figure it out.

Workouts: Made it to YOGA! Yayaya!! It was fabulous!! It's amazing what a difference a month makes - not even really with my flexibility or strength but with my BELLY! I definately had to modify some things because my belly was getting in the way.

Mood: My coworkers asked me why I'm so calm. They said "Aren't you supposed to be raging with hormones and crying every day?" I really don't feel that hormonal...Iphone and google commercials always made me cry, and I don't feel like I've cried anymore than the usual amount.

Looking forward to: My friend's wedding this weekend!!! Post coming soon on "How to be an 8 month pregnant bridesmaid!" I'm just going to wing this one as I go. but I am SOOO excited to celebrate with her and all our friends. Also: the seamstress did an amaaazing job on my dress, it fits so well, and it looks just like the other girl's dresses even though I ordered a different style!

Maternity Clothes: I really hope/think I can hold out for the next 5 weeks with what I have on hand. My pants are mostly "capris" but if I unroll them and if it stays warm enough, I think I can make do. I also can't button up any of my coats - so again, as long as we don't get winter weather, I don't want to have to buy a warm coat for just a few weeks.

Stretchmarks: Small white ones on my hips, keeping up with BioOil

Rings on or off? Engagement ring off, wedding band on - though getting tight!

Bellybutton in or out? I think it's safe to say "out". I imagine my belly button is singing this: but without the flat stomach:

This week I:
*Mailed in my pre-registration paperwork for the hospital! Wahoo!
*Started on my "Thank You" cards for the shower, FINALLY
*Ordered some art and decor for the nursery
*Opened up a ton of boxes from our shower and just started trying things out.  For instance, I wanted to try our mesh crib liner on the crib - but I discovered that it just doesn't fit on it right and will need to replace it with a new one. But this is why we're testing things out now!
*Scheduled delivery for my new glider/rocker! (this coming Saturday!!)
*Played around with my newly downloaded WordSwag iphone app:

  1. I'm so happy you and Jane got to spend some time together. It is incredible how long she and Grandma have been friends. I'm glad you're happy with your bridesmaid's dress for the wedding. The little stretch marks on your hips are something I've passed on to you ;-). The crib is beautiful and the apple crisp looks amazing. I know what you mean about your boss-it was exactly the same for me when I was pregnant' especially with you. Everyone kept telling me I was going early and that my due date was wrong. That's why I was so disappointed when you were three days late. Tell him you carry exactly like your mom and you are definitely not through with that little muffin in the oven!

  2. You still look amazing!!! I am only 27 weeks and already having a hard time sleeping, I can only imagine what's to come. I've considered sleeping in our recliner because the bed is just not comfortable anymore. I'm going to give it one more week and see how it goes!

    1. Thanks dear!! Yea..I won't say it gets any easier. it's weird. Some nights are great and then randomly other nights aren't. Def. try the recliner, it can't hurt to try something new.

  3. I think you look great!!! Love the crib. I found sleeping half sitting up really works for me too but on nights I get the charlie horses I have woken up with my feet up in the air (sleeping on the couch) I keep having boy dreams but I still think I may be having a girl.

    1. Thanks, I love the crib tooo!!! I've heard many people who are sleeping in their recliner, and I"ve contemplated it a few times, but then I just situate my pillows so it's like a recliner.

  4. I love the crib! It really is a strange thing to walk by and see a crib in a room isn't it? Drinking water was what helped me with charlie horses and thankfully I haven't had one in a couple of months. They hurt so bad! Isn't it funny how people have an opinion on the belly size?? Each woman carries differently but I don't think the general public acknowledges that!

    1. Thanks, I love it too!

Oh goodness evvvverrryone has an opinion. I mean, it's a nice conversation starter. Talking about my belly is like someone saying "how about that weather out there huh?" or "How 'bout them yankees?" It's a lead-in to a conversation but I am getting tired of answering the same old questions over and over again, or getting everyone's unsolicited opinions on whether or not I'm "huge"

  5. You look great Laura. I love the crib you guys choose. It's beautiful!!! Haha the peeing in the cup, yes you are right. I am like where is the cup? Also I am going to the doctors a lot, getting use to being poked and probed at. I am assuming this is going to get worse closer and during delivery.

Love the wagon, what an awesome gift and Zoe is so cute in there :)

I had a few dizzy spells and cramps too, drinking some water right away helped me too.

Also every time we go out everyone thinks I am going into labor too. Last time a gentleman asked me if I swallowed a volley ball..lol

    1. LOL I mean for the most part it's funny to hear what people think....but sometimes it's just awkward to constantly get everyone's opinions on it!

Thanks for your comments on the crib, I love it too!!! I think I had blood drawn like once before I got pregnant - but now I'm a pro with needles! (still have to look away and close my eyes though)

  7. LOVE THE WAGON! What a cute wigglebutt.

Your Jane story makes me happy. I like the thought of a person living on through another's memory. How nice for you to be able to experience that. Makes me hopeful.

I assume wordswag generated that quote? I don't understand the internet. My Mom used a part of that quote to make a song for us! We would sing it every night to teach other and then recite a small poem. Probably where that started a love of poetry for me.

I am really looking forward to your 8-month bridesmaid post! Maybe submit it to A Practical Wedding too?

    1. No, I typed in the quote and then pick different formats to put that quote in using wordswag. I really want to incorporate that quote into the nursery somehow so I've been playing around with it a lot. So neat that your mom used that quote to make a song! Can you sing it to me next time I see you??

We'll have to see how in-depth I go and how all this goes being preggers in a wedding - and then I'll assess!

  8. Peeing in a cup at this point is just a sick sick joke!!! Gah the hip pain!!! I have found that laying on my back with a body pillow under one side of me so I am not flat helps the pain!!! Thanks to my dr for that tip!!! I feel 80!!

    1. I mean...I wasn't very good at peeing in a cup really ever, I always get it everrrywhere. Ugh, but now yes, it's reallllly hard. Hm I'll try your pillow trick tonight!

  9. That reminds me of a friend I saw over the weekend. I finally got to meet her baby and we were mentioning that his first birthday is this December...but his due date was January 5th of 2013! She thinks her doctor was way off about the due date. So ya never know!

    1. Yea I guessssss but I have a feeling I'm going to go late - that's how my mom carried me and she thinks it'll be the same way for me!

  10. That crib is so pretty, and it's wonderful that you got to spend time with your grandmother's friend. Every time I think that my grandparents won't be here to meet my children, I feel so sad, since it's something I always dreamed about. It's so special that your grandmother and Jane were best friends for 40-50 years.

  12. Oh my goodness, is your due date November 25th? That was Kennedy's due date! Read your mom's post, so funny because Kennedy was born 3 days late, on the 28th. Her 1st birthday will be on Thanksgiving this year! :) I think I am going to root for you to have a turkey baby too, that is just too neat!
Oh and hip pain during the night is no fun! I remember switching sides almost every hour it seemed because my hips were so sore. Sorry you are going through that.
Aaaand, my guess on the gender is boy based on how you are carrying! :) You look super cute! :)

    1. My due date is 11/26 so very close! I very well could go into labor on Thanksgiving - that would be kind of exciting - though I'll feel bad for our parents who are preparing food for the day, haha!

Thanks, my guess has always been for a boy as well! we'll see very shortly!

  13. Only five to six more weeks? Crazy! And I love your crib. It is sooooo pretty! And I am glad that you are getting a chance to try everything out and see what is working and what isn't. And I can't wait to see your Bridesmaid dress! I am sure you will look amazing in it!

    1. Here's hoping I feel "pretty" and ok in the dress this weekend. She did do a good job, but you certainly can very much tell I'm pregnant, obviously, so I just gotta stand in the back for photos. LOL. Have a great weekend!

  14. Aren't the charlie horses the WORST? I have been getting them when I wake up in the middle of the night and stretch my legs to roll over. I usually just lay there and whimper until my husband wakes up and rubs out the pain. I am 7 weeks away and my doctor says she hopes she comes at 36 weeks... which would mean we only have THREE weeks left to get ready. I say... let my little Christmas Elf hang out a little longer in there, thanks.

    1. charlie horses ARE the worst! I can't believe your doc would say she hopes she comes at 36 weeks! I don't know the circumstances obviously, but I would think that any medical professional would hope for 37-40 weeks instead! Good luck!!

  15. BAH! How are you 34 weeks already?!?! That crib is gorgeous!

  16. Aw sooo exciting! The crib is so fun to have in the nursery and all the baby stuff set up definitely makes things feel more real! And yes, the Dr. appt.'s always are the same, it's a wonder why we even have to go so much. I'm going every week now and I'm sure you will be soon. You look great, it's been a while since I visited and what a difference! :) I haven' been sleeping well either! My Dr. said taking Unisom sleeping aid was fine and safe. I have took it last night and slept really well-- of course still getting up to pee, but sleep is much better! I was able to wear my wedding band up until last night. I could barely get it off, so I'm wearing it on my necklace now! haha :)

  17. I wish I would get the cooking bug back! I was in my sisters wedding at 25 weeks and I'm in my BFFs wedding about 6 weeks after I'm due so I feel ya on wedding and having to fit in the dress!
